Tenesha Shaw Washington, JD, OTD, MA, OTR/L is a dedicated advocate, occupational therapist, and educator with over 30 years of experience advancing equity and justice across healthcare, education, and community systems. She earned her Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in May 2025, with certifications in Health Law and Global Arbitration and Dispute Resolution, building on a strong clinical and academic foundation that includes a Post Professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Manhattan College.
Tenesha is licensed to practice occupational therapy in multiple states and has worked across a wide spectrum of environments, including public schools, higher education, correctional health services, acute and sub-acute care, long-term care, and community health. She has served as both an assistant and adjunct professor, educating undergraduate and graduate students while championing interdisciplinary collaboration and inclusive practice.
A fervent advocate for students, specifically individuals with disabilities, and all disadvantaged communities, Tenesha brings a deep understanding of the systemic challenges impacting marginalized populations. Her work consistently centers equity, access, and person-centered care in both clinical and policy-driven settings.
As Director of Advocacy, Tenesha leads with a powerful combination of legal insight, clinical experience, and a steadfast commitment to social justice. She works to shape inclusive policies, promote health and disability equity, and drive systemic reforms that empower historically underserved communities.
